Mount Shasta
So I arrived and she was there...and six hours later we were in Mt. Shasta. So as you can see, Spirit very much took care of me. And the woman that she'd arranged me to stay a few days with said to me "I've been told this is to be your home...so you can stay here as long as you need to be".
She had a wonderful space. I ran workshops there and did one to one sessions...and Mt. Shasta became my home for my first 12 months here in the States. And then I woke up one morning and was told it was time to leave... "and you need to leave today". And considering I didn't know anybody else, other than those in Mt. Shasta, and I had very little money because I'd been directed to stop work and just be...I had a tank full of gas and maybe a couple of dollars.
So I thought "What am I going to do?"...except I knew I had to leave. Well, I remembered I'd spoken to a woman three weeks previously and she'd given me a card and she said "If you're ever in Ukiah...you know, I'd love you to come and stay and there's people that could really use this work." So it was in the bottom of my bag and I called her and I said...I didn't tell her I was leaving Shasta for good...I said "Would it be OK if I came today?" She was delighted.
So I packed my things, I got in my car and I drove to Ukiah. And she was making a room up for me...and she was living alone at the time...and had...and that was the way she liked it, she informed me later...and she was making up my room and she was told "You are to offer Christine a home here...this is to be her home". I arrived in Ukiah and she said "I know this sounds strange, but I've been told this is to be your home."
And I thought "Ukiah?" And I really didn't know whether I wanted to be in Ukiah...and I said "I'm going to have to think about this". Well, days went by and, you know, people came and I became very busy with the work there and I knew it was right to be there. And so it became my home...and has been my home now for the past four years. So that's a little bit about the background of how I came to this country.
